Brightstar follows the ISO 2768-M or ISO-2768-F standard, and the highest tight linear tolerance can be ±0.005mm after precision machining. Through strict testing and advanced testing equipment and tools, we ensure that every tolerance meets customer requirements and the precision and accuracy are within the drawing range.

Design Guidelines for CNC Milling

To help customers design parts that are more suitable for CNC milling, thereby reducing production costs, improving machining efficiency, and ensuring part quality, below are some key design guidelines
Material Selection

Avoid using materials that are too brittle or prone to deformation. Please refer to our material showcase section on this page. If you are unsure or have specific material requirements, feel free to contact us directly for consultation.

Surface Finishing

Specify surface finish requirements only where necessary. Smoother finishes require additional machining time.
Use textures or coatings (e.g., anodizing, powder coating) to achieve desired aesthetics or functionality.

Geometric Design

Avoid deep cavities: Deep cavities require long tools, which may lead to tool vibration or breakage. The depth of the cavity should ideally not exceed 4 times its width.

Fillet design: Internal sharp corners are difficult to machine. It is recommended that the radius of internal fillets be greater than 1/3 of the cavity depth.

Wall thickness: Thin walls are prone to vibration or deformation. The recommended minimum wall thickness is 1 mm for metals and 2 mm for plastics.

Tolerance Requirements

Avoid unnecessarily tight tolerances: Tight tolerances increase machining difficulty and milling costs.

Holes and Threads

Hole depth limitation: It is recommended that the hole depth not exceed 10 times its diameter to minimize chatter, tool deflection, and other issues.

Chamfers: Adding chamfers to hole edges is recommended to reduce burrs and facilitate assembly.

Slots and Undercuts

Avoid undercuts: Undercuts require special tools or multi-axis machining, which increases costs.

Slot design: If slots are necessary, ensure their width and depth are suitable for standard tools.
